Economic-Ecological Modeling is a collection of the work of multiple authors and will be of interest to those who seek an understanding of economic-ecological modeling. This work is divided into three parts, the first of which examines the theory and methods of economic-ecological modeling. The shortcomings and perspectives of economic modeling and ecological modeling are examined. The editors follow this with a discussion of integrated economic-ecological modeling.
The second part addresses the practice of environmental and resource modeling. CW Clark examines fisheries as renewable resources. Different authors offer essays on: forestry, agricultural, water resource and outdoor recreation models. Integrated water quality-economic and economic-ecological models are discussed. This middle part of the book concludes with an examination of: models for national, international and global systems policy, and an analysis of the productivity of multiple resource systems.
The third part addresses policy-making and models. The editors begin with an overview of the practice of resource modeling. PH Pearse and CJ Walters follow this with a discussion of perspectives on the application of economic-ecological models. The editors conclude the book with an evaluation of such models. Economic-Ecological Modeling is a succinct examination of integrated models and will be useful to the informed reader.
